In a major success, security forces have busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), tasked to trigger violence by planting an IED on the eve of Independence Day, by arresting four terrorists and their associates, officials said.

A police spokesman said four Jaish terrorists, including an Uttar Pradesh resident, and their associates were arrested in a drive to root out the militant presence in the district.
Muntazir Manzoor, alias Saifulla, of Prichoo Pulwama was the first to be arrested in this chain. A pistol, a magazine, eight live rounds, two Chinese hand grenades and his truck were seized, the spokesman said.
Subsequently, Ijahar Khan, alias Sonu Khan, of Shamli district in U, and two others were arrested. Khan disclosed that Munazir, alias Shahid, a JeM commander in Pakistan, had asked him to collect weapons from near Amritsar which would be dropped by a drone. He did reconnaissance of Panipat oil refinery and sent videos to Pakistan. He was then tasked to do the reconnaissance of Ayodhya Ram janmabhoomi but was arrested before he could accomplish the task, the police spokesman added.
Another terrorist, Touseef Ahmed Shah, alias Showket, of Shopian took accommodation in Jammu upon being asked by Shahid and another Pakistan-based terrorist Abrar. He had to procure a second-hand bike for causing an IED blast in Jammu, but was arrested before accomplishing the task.
A fruit merchant, Jahangir Ahmed Bhat of Bandzoo area in Pulwama, has been arrested as he introduced Ijahar Khan to Shahid, the police official said, adding further investigation was on. — PTI
