Rajya Sabha passes three Bills amid din

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Bill, 2021, which seeks to encourage smaller airports to expand air connectivity to relatively remote and far-flung areas. Earlier, the House passed two Bills — the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, and the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 — after short debates amid the din. No more amendments to Citizenship Act

The government on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that citizenship to eligible persons under the CAA would be granted only after framing and issuing rules and it does not propose any more amendments to the law. Delhi Police arrested 183 for farm protests

The government on Wednesday said the Delhi Police had arrested 183 persons in connection with protests against farm laws, but no one was booked under stringent provisions of sedition or any anti-terror law like Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. TNS

Plan for pension to injured cadets pending

Six years after a committee of experts set up by the Defence Minister suggested that military cadets disabled with an injury due to training at military academies be granted a disability pension, the proposal is yet to be implemented. The Ministry of Defence informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that proposal was not accepted by the government as successive pay commissions did not recommend the same due to technical requirements that would need an amendment to Recruitment Rules and Pension Rules. Military hardware exports touch Rs8,434 cr

Despite Covid, exports of military hardware from India touched Rs8,434 crore (approx $1.12 billion) for the financial year ending March 2021. This is lower than the highest-ever export of Rs10,745.77 crore during 2018-19, but is maintaining a trend of a billion dollar-plus exports since then. The years 2019-2020 saw an export of Rs9,115.55 crore. TNS
