The case was initially registered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu relating to the conspiracy by Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM), working at the behest of Jaish-e- Mohammed, to carry out terrorist activities in Jamp;K with an intention to threaten the sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.

Later on March 2, 2021, the National Investigation Agency took over the case by re-registering a first information report (FIR) and started a probe, which is continuing, the officials said.
