Tokyo: Athletes, presenters and volunteers will not pose for group photographs and wear masks on the podium during Tokyo Olympics medal ceremonies, the International Olympic committee said on Thursday, announcing a series of health-safety measures keeping in mind the Covid-19 pandemic. That athletes and medal presenters would be required to wear masks was made clear in the guidelines released in June. NEW DELHI: The process of picking this year’s national sports awards winners is set to be postponed until after the Olympic Games to ensure that medal winners in Tokyo are duly considered by the selection panel, which is yet to be instituted. Mumbai: The rupee strengthened by 9 paise to close at 74.49 against the US dollar on Tuesday, marking its third straight day of gains on foreign fund inflows and positive domestic equities. Firm crude oil prices, however, capped the gains in the local currency, forex dealers said. At the interbank forex market, the local unit opened higher at 74.49 against the greenback and witnessed an intra-day high of 74.41 and a low of 74.50 during the session. On Monday, the rupee had settled at 74.58 against the US dollar. DUBAI: The ICC on Wednesday officially confirmed that teams will be awarded standardised 12 points for a win, four for a draw and six for a tie during the second World Test Championship cycle which kicks off with the five-match series between India and England in August. The ICC further said that percentage of points won will be used to determine standings in the 2021-23 cycle.
