New Delhi: Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Monday that fair and impartial auditing is essential for a resilient economy as it instils confidence among citizens. Addressing officers at the National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Das said that audit is important for the country as public expenditure decisions are based on these reports. Observing that there is a need to improve the quality and depth of audit, he said the Reserve Bank has taken a host of steps in consultation with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for improving the audit of banks and financial institutions. TRAI issues consultation paper on market structure, competition in cable TV sector

New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday issued a consultation paper on issues related to market structure and competition in cable television services, and invited comments from stakeholders. The move has been initiated following a reference from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), TRAI said in a statement. The authority said the MIB had sought its recommendations on issues related to monopoly and market dominance in cable TV services on December 12, 2012. Petrol, diesel prices hike continues

New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices witnessed a hike for the fifth consecutive day across the country on Sunday. With a hike of Rs 0.35, the price of petrol in the national capital increased to Rs 107.59 per litre. The price of diesel also saw a hike of Rs 0.35 in Delhi thereby amounting to Rs 96.32 per litre respectively today. Mumbai also reported a surge in fuel prices as compared to yesterday. Petrol witnesses a hike of Rs 0.34 and costs Rs Rs 113.46 per litre, while diesel rates sored by Rs 0.38 amounting to Rs Rs 104.38.
